EMAS (EN)

Definition

EMAS, the Eco-Management and Audit Scheme, is an environmental management system of the European Union that supports companies in continuously improving their environmental performance. It goes beyond mere compliance and primarily aims to reduce environmental burdens. Companies that successfully implement EMAS are entitled to use the EMAS logo, which signals their environmentally friendly orientation to the outside world. EMAS obliges companies to regularly review and improve their environmental impacts.
