Probationary period in employment

The probationary period is an agreed period at the beginning of an employment relationship during which both parties can assess the employee's suitability for the position and the employer's suitability for the working conditions. During the probationary period, both sides can usually terminate the employment relationship with a shorter notice period. The probationary period must be specified in the employment contract.
