Definition

RTSP (Real Time Streaming Protocol) is a network protocol specifically developed for controlling media streams between server and client. Frigate uses RTSP to receive and process video feeds from IP cameras. The protocol enables control over playback, pausing, and progress of streams in real time. It forms the basis for video recording and processing in Frigate.
